Paul House (on the left in our photo with Marcus Bicknell) was the happy recipient at the Goodwood Revival on Sept 19, 2026, of a pack of the 42 Pebble Beach Road Racers racing and on show at Monterey in August and the commemorative pebble, a real stone 3 inches across, engraved with the event name and date. Gift from the Pebble Beach Road Racers / The Del Monte Trophy Race Group for dedication beyond the call of sanity – I mean, duty – in his love of our cars… Paul in England has become a firm friend of our since he wrote to us in early 2026 about his collection of models of cars that Ken Miles raced. Paul’s consuming passion; to build a model of every car that Ken Miles ever raced. Paul knows our 1950s sports racing cars well. He says “My friend in the States, Jim Sitz knew Ken Miles in the 1950s and shared with me his memories of Ken’s racing exploits. He told me about the MG specials which Miles built and raced with much success. My model collection, today, has expanded somewhat from AC/Shelby/Cobras to models of the early cars Ken Miles built and/or raced. In researching his racing career, I found that he raced a wide variety of cars, some of which were not available as scale models. This resulted in a small portion of my models being scratch-built or created from modifying available kits.” As followers here know, both of Ken Miles’s MG Specials were with us in Monterey in August. William Hart Sr of Carnation in Washington State drove the #50 1954 Ken Miles MG R2 Special “The Flying Shingle” in the Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion at Laguna Seca in August with us… 23rd out of 40 on Friday, best 2’09.753 and 23rd on Saturday, 2’07.328, dicing in both races with Simon Taylor’s 1955 #14 HWM-Chevvy Stovebolt Special. What a sight! Then both Ken Miles MGs (R1, R2) and the Stovebolt were on the lawn at the Pebble Beach Concours the day after.

Paul is also friends with his near-neighbour Stephen Payne, son of the creator of the 1947 Payne Baldwin Special (https://dmtrg.com/1947-baldwin-payne-special/), a car which spent most of its life in Portsmouth, England, before being bought and returned to California by collector and steward of the Del Monte Trophy Race Group, Rob Manson.
