Video premier – view now. Click on the YouTube image below.

The Del Monte Trophy Race Group, headed up by steward Rob Manson is devoted to showing and racing sports racing cars from 1947 to 1955. Many of these cars were raced at the iconic Pebble Beach Road Races near Monterey California in the early 1950s. Beginnings saw mostly European marques as Jaguar, MG, Aston-Martin, Mercedes, Allard and Ferraris, then the California road racing specials emerged to challenge the Europeans; marques such as Old Yeller II, Manning Special, Tatum Special, Kurtis, Hageman Jaguar, Parkinson Jaguar Special, Kurtis race cars and the 1951 Baldwin Simca Special that is featured in this video.

This video was produced by Checkered Flag Films (Geoff Zimmerman) in association with Victory Lane with the patina of history (and of the Velocity Invitational at Sonoma in November 2023). The narration is by Rob Manson of Carmel Valley CA, the owner and driver of the Baldwin Simca.

We do hope Geoff will go through the whole list of Del Monte Trophy cars and make a video portrait of each. You keen? Email Geoff at <gzman at roadrunner.com>. Which are those cars? Check out http://dmtrg.com/cars_list/.
