The extraordinary look and feel of the 1950s road racers, especially that gaggle of one-off California Road Race Specials (Manning, Parkinson, Baldwin, Hagemann, Huffaker, Hansgen, Sorrell, Von Neumann, Tatum and others) lend themselves to artistic creations.
The most notable exponent in the case of our cars is David Gentry who for years has been sleuthing round the West Coast race paddocks with his sun-protected iPad making wonderful renditions of the cars. We were saddened by the news of David’s death in July 2023 but the legacy of his art and the memory of a wonderful man live on. With this in mind, this page will remain online and we will keep you informed of future activities, withe permission of his estate, involving his automotive art.
David Gentry’s images have been sold to the cars’ owners, have been seen across our website and social media, on 10 foot high displays at the Pebble Beach Concours, the Rolex Monterey Motorsport Reunion and in other race paddocks, and in the near future in book form.
