Del Monte boys warm up

Fun weekend at the CSRG race meet at Laguna Seca, June 13-14 in preparation for the Rolex Monterey Motorsport Reunion there August 12-16 2026. Several Del Monte Trophy Race Group drivers were racing there getting seat time and running in new engines (Tatum and Parkinson Jaguar) in race conditions. No one broke, (well, Dave Nelson couldn’t get his TR 2 to run at all). Jim Alder drove down in his racing Jaguar XK120 from Reno, as he does. Rob Manson was finally able to present Dave Nelson with his take-home Del Monte trophy from 2024.

Our photo above, thanks to Veronica Zurlinden, shows Jim Alder, Dave Nelson (with trophy, 1955 Triumph TR2), Rob Manson, his brother-in-law Slim Pepperdene, John Buddenbaum, Tim Barnes (1951 Jaguar XK120) and David DZ Zurlinden (thumbs up, 1953 Tatum GMC Special) . Gregor Magnusson (1954 Porsche 356), Charles McCabe (Maserati 250F) and Robert Davis (1953 Siata 208S) were also racing on track.

DZ writes “I put Maggie in charge of guarding the Tatum, so’s to ensure it’s availability for me in August, haha!”. Yes, that’s his dog (image, right), now an honorary member of the Del Monte Trophy Race Group. Should the title of this little blog be “Del Monte Gal cools down”?
