This is one of the first Austin-Healey sports cars to appear on the West Coast. A few were raced in SCCA Class D at Pebble Beach from 1954.
The 1955 Austin-Healey 100-4 is a quintessential British roadster celebrated for its 2,660 cc inline-four cylinder engine, 100 mph top speed, and iconic fold-down windscreen. The 1955 production year spans the earlier BN1 (3-speed with overdrive) and the later BN2 (4-speed manual). Powered by an Austin A90 engine producing 94 bhp and 150 lb-ft of torque. It features a 0-60 mph time of around 11.5 seconds. The BN1 (built through August 1955) utilized a 3-speed manual gearbox with overdrive on second and third gears. The BN2 (introduced in August 1955) introduced a true 4-speed manual gearbox, slightly wider rear wheel arches to accommodate two-tone paint, and a revised clutch housing.
