February 1, 2025 – our brilliant 5-minute movie is released
The 1950s cars of the Del Monte Trophy Race Group triumph at the 2024 Velocity Invitational at Sonoma in California. British thoroughbreds including Jaguar, Cooper and MG fight off the assault of the California road race specials, the cars of the original Pebble Beach Road Races held from 1950 to 1956. See Derek Hill talk about his father Phil Hill, future American F1 World Champion, who won the first Pebble Beach race and the Del Monte Trophy in 1950 driving his Jaguar XK-120. See exclusive on-board footage of 2009 F1 World Champion Jensen Button expertly manifest the ultimate race car control navigating the challenging Sonoma Raceway in his ex-Fangio Jaguar C-Type. The friendly and crowd-pleasing Del Monte Race Trophy Race Group, owners and drivers of concours-condition masterpieces which are raced robustly, is at home at the Monterey Car Week, the Pebble Beach Concours, the Rolex Monterey Motorsport Reunion and the Velocity Invitational. Under the stewardship of Rob Manson (r3teknon@gmail.com), Carmel Valley-based owner of a clutch of these road-racers, the Del Monte group grows annually in grid sizes and variety of newly-restored cars.
Rob Manson and the Del Monte Trophy Race Group produced the video. We thank the movie’s Director, Geoff Zimmerman of Checkered Flag Films (@checkeredflagfilms) for the great direction, cinematography and editing. Victory Lane magazine is featuring the movie.
